What's the difference between a jam and a chutney? (brought up while having breakfast with Omar and Leah)

• Jam is sweetened fruit boiled and allowed to set, often involving preservatives, whereas chutney is usually a mixture of fruit and spices, and would ideally be served fresh.

What's the difference between a frog and a toad? (inspired by finding a toad at the cottage)

• While toads tend to be adapted to a drier experience, this is thought to be a result of convergent evolution, as opposed to a distant evolutionary divergence. Toads tend to have drier skin, and are more prone to burrowing than frogs, but there are exceptions.

What's the difference between an alligator and a crocodile? (inspired by seeing crocs in zoos)

• Crocodiles have teeth visible on upper and lower jaws when jaws are closed. Alligators lower teeth fit into gaps in upper jaw, and only upper teeth are visible with jaws closed.
