Protective garment chafes to East of "Palmetto State" (6)

Killing Mrs. Carter, though obviously bad for her, was just the pick-me-up I needed.
-- J.D., Scrubs (My First Kill)

I've said before that Scrubs is the best medical show on TV, and I've been working my way through the episodes in order, mostly between an afternoon nap and an evening shift on a Monday night in Campbellford.

Here's an example of what I like about the show: Although the overall feel of the show is comedic and often surreal, it also manages to capture how working as a resident can be a soul-sucking experience. The show's title sequence shows a montage of doctors and nurses handing an x-ray to one another and sticking it up on a viewing box (the 12-second title, not the short season 3 one or the longer season 2 one). If you watch closely though, you'll see that each person in turn looks equally exhausted, depressed and thoroughly exacerbated with the experience.

Life's in the details.
