Life imitates Scrubs
-- J.D., Scrubs (My Way Home)
A couple of years ago, I was out shopping with Cheryl in the Body Shop at Cataraqui Town Centre with Cheryl. I think it was in 2002 since she bought a lot of cocoa butter at when she was pregnant with Neva, hoping that it would prevent stretch marks of pregnancy. I'll leave it to her to let you know how that turned out, but you should remember that our kids were born freaky big.
The Body Shop has a wide variety of fruity smelling soaps, shampoos and creams, but I remember being drawn to the smell of the Mango Body Butter. It smelled so good, you would think it has to taste good, right? Long story short, I tried it, and it was - ahem - disappointing.
This morning, I was watching a little more Scrubs, and when a Wizard of Oz themed episode showed the protagonist (J.D.) tasting mango body butter, my jaw dropped! Later, he went on to say how good it was on bagels, and I got to wondering if it had influenced me in my folly.
Did life imitate Scrubs? It turns out that although my own taste test was a couple years ago, this episode aired in early 2006. I was the original mango body butter eater, not that that's necessarily something to be proud of.
My disdain for professional sports also predates J.D.'s lack of sport understanding.
